Editorial Review Policy
Fastlane Journal uses an initial editorial review (desk review) on all the submitted manuscripts before it is peer reviewed. This is to make sure that submissions are of a minimum standard of quality, relevance and ethical considerations as outlined in the journal.
When they are submitted, the Editor-in-Chief or the assigned Associate Editors will review the manuscripts and will decide whether they fit in the aims and scope of the journal, whether they meet the requirements of submission, and whether they are academically appropriate. The submissions are also verified as being original using plagiarism detection software and as being ethical as required by having the required approvals of a research involving human or animal subjects as the case may be.
Papers failing to satisfy these criteria could be rejected at the editorial level without being submitted to external peer review. This choice is informed by the lack of relevance to the journal, inadequate scholarly quality, high methodological flaws or failure to meet ethical and formatting standards.
Articles passing the editorial review are sent to the journal review process, which is a double-blind peer review process and the article is reviewed by independent experts in the field.
The editorial review is performed timely and objectively to facilitate the journal in its desire to maintain efficiency in publication and at the same time uphold high scholarly standards.
